The FC2000GP254 machine is protected by easily accessible high speed semiconductor fuses and all low voltage control systems are protected by a 20 mm fuse.
The controls are a STOP button to isolate both poles of the incoming generator supply. A START button is provided to prepare the machine for fishing after the anode(s) and cathode(s) have been deployed under the water. The Pulse output range should then be selected on the control box and for this it is preferable to start with the 50 setting. A voltmeter scaled 0 to 250 volts reading the output DC voltage from the unit and an ammeter scaled 0 to 10 amps AC reading the generator input current are fitted. A power control potentiometer is fitted to vary the output power. The output can be set anywhere between 10% and 100% of the output voltage range selected using the power control knob. When selecting a new Pulse setting it is always best to return the output control to minimum before increasing the output as appropriate to the desired level. Large "POWER ON" and "FISHING ON" LED indicator lamps are fitted to indicate the controller state.
The anode selector switch is used to determine the required number of anodes from 1 to 4 to be deployed in the water. Note that before power is supplied from the box output all anode switches must be energised. If either of the anode switches in use fails to operate or has some fault then the yellow anode switch fail indicator will light and a sounder will alert operators to the problem.
The 50 Pulses per second setting is kinder to fish than the 100 Pulses per second setting, but provided the power control is used carefully no fish will be harmed on either setting. This is the most common type of electro fishing machine used as it is relatively cheap and very effective. It can also work well in a wide range of water conductivities.. All units are tested on full load at all possible settings and given extensive vibration testing before passing final quality control checks. The output is Pulsed DC which has been the most popular method for catching freshwater fish. This method does not harm fish and merely stops them swimming and attracts them to the anode head to enable them to be netted easily from the water.
Other outputs including Smooth DC outputs can be supplied as well as other voltage ranges suitable for lower or higher conductivities. One new machine has been developed which switches automatically between Pulsed and Smooth DC and is under constant development as part of our continuous research and development programme.
There are 4 sets of blue and white waterproof anode sockets mounted on the box with numbers 1 and 2 on the left hand side and numbers 3 and 4 on the right hand side. Two yellow waterproof sockets are mounted on the front of the box for use with one or two cathodes as preferred.
Anodes, cathodes and electric fishing generators can be supplied with a variety of specifications to suit the application required.ß
A 3 year warranty is given with each machine and this is valid except in cases of misuse or accidental damage, subject to conditions.

A full set of instructions is provided with every machine giving details of training contacts for those users new to electric fishing. Also a full set of spare fuses is provided.
